One World, One Heart Beating …

… is a global love song performed entirely by children.  It is a set of tools for teaching and living, and a portal to an interactive, creative platform for kids.  It is a pathway to a better world. The heart-and-soul child of singer songwriter Oona McOuat, One World,One Heart Beating is an invitation to kids and grownups all over to act and live with tolerance, harmony, and hope. Anything is Possible…

Oona raised $18,000 in 6 weeks from her fan-base, traveled across the globe to Zimbabwe (with musicians Jose Sanchez and James Mujuru), and worked side by side in the field and in the studio with Jose, Kasper and lots of children for a year to realize her One World, One Heart Beating dream – to share a simple message of love with the world. Since then, the song has been adopted by music teachers across the globe, and has been performed by children in diverse places like the Philippines, the Netherlands, and California.

  1. This was beyond awesome! I had goosebumps just listening! Isn’t it amazing what a child’s voice can teach us! This gives me hope for our future in this uncertain world! Thanks for sharing and for all the work you put into this!

  2. I think this is one of the most significant information for
me. And i am glad reading your article. But should remark on few general things, The site
style is great, the articles is really nice : D. Good job, cheers

  3. What a wonderful find is your song and it’s message! This piece could have marvelous potential as a song sung in various schools around the world? Has a songsheet/lead sheet yet been made available? Also, a briefer, simpler version would be wonderful to teach to kids as young as preschoolers. Please let me know!

    Thanks for the inspiration.

    • Hi Ken,

Thanks for you message and support! There is lots of info and a link to the lead sheet and lyrics on the Teachers page on this website. On that page, there are also lots of very wonderful lesson plans that could be done in conjunction with singing the song. The simplified version would entail singing the chorus only. (It can be sung as a round.) Here is the info from that page in a nutshell:

Teachers, you are welcome to share the song and video with students for educational purposes. If you are unable to access YouTube at your school, you can easily download the video at home for later viewing by using this safe free tool. Download MP4 (720 p) is the recommended setting for full screen viewing on a Mac or a PC. If you and/or students want to play along with the song, lyrics with 3 simple chords are here.

      With best wishes,

      Oona

  4. Hi! I liked so much your project and this beautiful song. Could you please tell me, how can I get this song and (if it exists) the instrumental or karaoke version to sing this song with my students in Colombia?

  5. What a wonderful contribution to a world for peace! Great song from Sue, from little things big things grow! What a great project. Well done!!!

  6. How beautiful – I remember singing that song with some children in Melbourne in Australia with the composer Sue Kirkpatrick. –All best – Jane

    • Thank you, Jane! How wonderful that you have sung with Sue. She is thrilled about the project and the co-creation that emerged as I added verses and a bridge to her beautiful song – which is now the chorus! It has been amazing collaborating with her from afar.

  7. Beautiful, Oona! Yay Shelby (loved your photos of Gia and Zoë in Barb’s)
Everyone learning in the Centre School,
    Everybody’s got a voice, you’ve used it!
    Love, love love you all,
    Usha
